Easy Money Making Website

This lesson is going to be about the actual building of your website.  If you already know how to build a basic website, you can skip down to the section on website content.

For those of you who don't know how to build a website but want to learn, then you have some more homework to do - starting right here.  

Building Your First EVER Website

OK - so let's assume you don't know the first thing about building a website.

Before we can get started building a website, we must have software that will let us easily create our website. 

Web pages are written in a computer language called HTML (which stand for hyper-text markup language).  You will not have to learn to code web pages in HTML.  We are going to use software that will allow us to create our web pages very quickly and easily without learning any HTML.

NVU (pronounced N-View) Free Software

NVU is free software that you can use to create web pages without learning any special code.  You will have to download a copy of this software and install it on your computer.

There are other programs that people use to create web pages but for the purposes of this course, we are going to use NVU because it is free - and also because it is easy to use.

Scroll down on the web page that appears to select the version of Nvu that you will download.  There will be a version for Windows and another version for Mac computers.  Select the appropriate one for your computer.



Follow the instructions for the download and installation of NVU.  Once the installation is completed you will be ready to begin building your website.

To get started with NVU you will begin by watching the Beginning a Project in NVU video below.  Do that now.

• Make the Title the name of your website (eg Best Scooters Mileage)
• The first page is always named index.html  (this is your websites "home" page)

There - use what you learned in these two videos to play around in NVU to begin building a website based on the name of your domain.  Don't worry if it is a little rough at first.  It  will get easier and you can always "tweak" it later.

Website Content

When building your website here are some things you will want to include.

A title on the top of the page in a large font stating the name of your website (same as the page title you entered in the title box for NVU).

A Welcome Message.  To increase the number of times we have used the name of our site (search engines like this) you will state your site name in the "Welcome to" section of the site.

Lots of text that includes your keyword phrases a few more times (3 or 4 times - don't go crazy with it).

State your website name in different ways and sequences.  For example Best Scooters Mileage website should have words like best scooters, best mileage for scooters and so on. This adds weight to show the search engines what your website is about and that it has lots of content.

Make sure that you are delivering what you say you are going to deliver in your title.  For instance, my website Best Scooters Mileage is all about scooters and references mileage in a few places as well.

Finally - near the bottom of each web page, add Copyright Information (like you see on this page).  Insert your site name and the year in the copyright information at the bottom of the page.

Feel free to use www.bestscootersmileage or this website as a template to start with. Both are simple to build - even for a novice!
